A couple of weeks ago I discovered this site through Twitter called 1saleaday.com

Basically they have, well, 1 sale a day.  Actually, they have 3, one “sale”, one “wireless” and one “watch”.  Some of these are actually pretty good deals.  So far I’ve purchased a sports pack for Wii (generic version with bat, golf club and tennis racket) for $5.99 shipped, and a rechargeable battery pack with batteries that works in your car for $5.99 shipped.

Today I think I got a pretty good deal:  1 year of ESPN magazine for $2.99 total.

I preface this post by saying t

hat I am not a gamer.  I haven’t ever, as an adult, owned a video game system.  The alst time I played a gaming system was a Playstation maybe 6 or so years ago.  It was fun, but it’s never really been my thing.

A few months ago I took on an assignment with I’ve Tried That, writing about a moneymaking system (they call it system, some people call it scheme) called Project Payday.  I spent a couple of months working the system and wrote about it first here and then here.

I didn’t really make any money with Project Payday, but by the time I worked through the system I was about halfway finished meeting the requirements to get a “free” Wii from YourNintendoWii4Free.com.  I’ve wanted a Wii for a while, and I was close to getting it, so I decided to finish getting referrals and get the Wii.

It was far from free.  I estimate I probably spent $100, not to mention that I first signed into the site in January, and didn’t get my last referral completed until the end of July.  The wait was excruciating.  Once I met the requirements and placed the order for my “free” Wii, it took nearly a month to get it, since they said they tried to deliver it once and my address was wrong (even though it wasn’t).

Last Thursday, though, I got my bundle.  Included was the Wii game system, an extra controller, and an additional game, EA Sports Active.  All in all I got $335 worth of products for about $100 (plus 7 months of hassle).

On Wednesday, knowing that the package was going to be delivered the next day, I bought a Wii Fit.  Thursday night Irish and I got it all set up and bowled a game from Wii Sports before we went over to have dinner with his parents.

Since then I’ve played it every day at least twice.  I think I’ve finally hit on something that is going to help me stay active.  I’m a very competitive person, and this helps me compete against myself.  I love mastering the activities, beating my own scores, and unlocking new levels.  I also love how the Wii Fit tracks my progress and talks back to me.

I know it’s been around for a while, and to some people it’s no longer groundbreaking, but I am really enjoying it.

Cliopatra's Writings: So What the Heck???

A new Post "So What the Heck???" was written on the August 20, 2009 at 6:16 am on "Cliopatra's Writings".

I know, I know.  All of those “testing” posts were getting annoying.   If you think it was annoying reading them,

you should have been trying to figure out what was being tested.

I’ve got a few blogs from my “past” that I don’t necessarily want to become defunct, so I doing two types of testing: (1) testing a crossposting method I already had in place that wasn’t working and (2) testing out new types of crossposting methods.

I’ve hit upon something that will work, with some minor tweaking.  It’s not anything I’ll have to do test posts for, I’ll just be adjusting settings as I go along until the end result looks how I want it to look.

Thank you for your patience.  We now join your regularly scheduled program already in progress.  Happy Thursday!

E-mail Posts and Autoposting

So here's my issue right now.  I have a self-hosted blog and I use the posterize plugin for Wordpress to cross-post here from there.  I also have autopost setup from here to a Xanga site.

Posterize e-mails the post from me to my posterous site, where it posts just fine.  It does not, however, autopost to the Xanga site.  If I post something directly to posterous, it will autopost to the Xanga site.

This would lead one to believe that posterize is the problem.  I decided to test the theory by e-mailing a post directly to posterous from e-mail (not going through posterize).  It posted correctly, but did not autopost to Xanga.

I've figured out a quick and dirty workaround using ping.fm as the go between, but why in the world are posts not autoposting from posterous if they are e-mailed in?  If I direct post or SMS, they autopost.  And yes, all of my e-mail addresses match on all of my accounts.

Right now, if I want to autopost an e-mailed post to Xanga I have to sign into posterous and tell it to autopost, which kinda makes it NOT autopost, thus defeating the purpose.

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

ETA:  I figured out the problem finally.  I was e-mailing to posterous@posterous.com and so is posterize.  Apparently, e-mailing to posterous@posterous.com only posts to posterous.  E-mailing to post@posterous.com posts to posterous AND autoposts.  What a pain in the neck!
